Blood Shed - Part 1

Matt was fuming with anger and pain, as he sat on the bench of a lonely park. He wanted to cry, scream and run away as far as he could. His mind was racing through the path of his own life. His parents' divorce, followed by his sister's death, were an unexpected slap on his life. He moved out of his house soon after his high school and hated his step dad more than anything or anybody. He hated his mother too. And she never bothered about it. For her, Matt was a living reminder of her miserable past. Matt wanted to  stay with his father. But, he couldn't trace out whether his father was alive or dead. Then he decided to handle his life by himself. But he knew, it was already too much for a seventeen year old to handle. He started working and earned some quids to meet his needs. He was only able to afford a small shattered studio in the rundown areas of Wythenshawe. He aspired to study Electronics in the University of Manchester. He loved working in the restaurants at the Oxford Road, as the street buzzed with students. And this kept reminding him of his dreams and he stayed focussed. It has been three years since he started working. He has made enough money for his degree and was about to join the University. He was happy that his life is getting better. So he called his mother to share the happiness. But when he called his mom that evening, his step dad abused him and spoiled his joy. He was feeling aloof and lost. He heart was venting out agony like an erupting volcano and the pain was running all over him.

He sat there without noticing that the dark had crept in. Suddenly, he was disturbed by a tiny red flashing light, passing across him. It looked like a toy spaceship. May be compared to a miniature Saturn on wheels. He picked it up and looked closely. It consisted of a plate like structure, of nearly two inch thickness and 5 to 6 inches diameter, with a spherical ball like structure of 3 inch diameter, sitting in the middle. At the bottom was a minute button, which can only be pressed using the tip of a pen. The red light at the top began to flash in quick succession. He immediately took out a pen and pressed the button. The light went off. He wasn't sure what surprise it was concealing. He immediately dropped it inside his bag and started walking. He took longer steps and quicker pace, to reach his house soon, as he couldn't wait to investigate the object.

He kept it on his kitchen work top and searched through his tools junk to find an appropriate tool to open it. Suddenly, he heard a mild rumbling noise from the object. He was bit scared to go near and check it. But before he could do anything, it caught fire by itself and burnt down into ashes. He couldn't believe what he just saw. The shining metallic object that made him curious an hour ago was nothing but a spoonful of ashes. He stayed in his bed for a while. Then he went into the kitchen and touched the ash. It was very cold and thoroughly burnt. He collected the powder in a box and left it in the corner of the room.

After that night, he totally forgot about it, as he got busy with his University admission. When his classes started, he started devoting more time in the laboratory and library. His love for electronics and thirst for more knowledge, kept his fire of passion alive. Still he worked parttime,as a delivery boy in a chinese takeaway to meet his needs. After a couple of months, as he was walking down the path alongside Mersey River, he noticed an object similar to the one he saw the other night. He grabbed it and ran back to the University lab, before it turns into ashes. He carefully cut open the plate. It had a tracking system, a mobile sim and its circuit and an igniter fitted with a timer. The timer was counting down and he realised that it might trigger ignition and so he stopped it. He had no clue about the spherical ball that sat in the middle of the object. When he cut open the ball, he saw a bag of crystals in it. The crystals were reddish, translucent and very tiny.

Blood Shed - Part 2

Matt eagerly opened the envelope, that carried the test result of the crystal analysis. He preserved every single bit of the crystal from the object and sent hardly a gram of it for analysis. He was shocked to learn that the crystals are human blood mixed with cocaine. He understood that there was something fishy about the object and wanted to delve deep into this.

Many months gone by, before he saw a similar object roaming in the woods on a cold Sunday night. When he tried to reach it, he noticed a tall man, wearing a long leather jacket and a winter hat, was walking quickly towards it. He picked it up, dropped it in his bag, and typed something swiftly in his mobile. Then he disappeared in the dark. Matt could hardly see his face.

The thoughts about the object, crystals and the weird man, kept bouncing in his head. He wanted to get to the bottom of this. Few days later, he went to an apartment in Benchill, to deliver take away. Matt had a strange feeling when he saw the man of the house. He was told to wait at the door, when the strange man went inside his room to fetch money. As Matt was waiting near the doorway for money, his eyes surfed through the lounge and found some weird objects there. The room smelled different. It did not stink but it wasn't pleasant either. At one corner of the lounge, just above the clutter of papers, he saw the 'object' lying upside down. And he noticed a long leather jacket hanging from the hooks, on the wall, next to the doorstep. He confirmed that it was the same man he saw in the woods, the other day. He noted down the name, address and contact number from the order receipt.

Matt understood that this guy Sean, was the only hope in digging out the secrets clinging on to the object. Matt tried following him, but he is no 007. He sketched so many plans, but everything was in vain.

After few weeks, he got an order for takeaway delivery from Sean. He was very much waiting for it. He delivered the food to Sean and waited near the door, for him to pay. When Sean went into his room, Matt quickly dropped a device into the leather jacket and winked at the 'object', that was still lying upside down at the corner. When Sean paid him, Matt gave a visiting card to him, which had the takeaway name and contact details embossed on it. Matt insisted in saving that card for future discounts and he was feeling successful to see Sean keep the card in his wallet.

Blood Shed - Part 3 (Final)

The police rushed to the shattered cottage near the Cheviot hills. With brief gun fires and attacks, they were able to break into it. The armed men in the place were captured and everything that were found were seized. The place had numerous beds and each bed was occupied. Blood was being collected from everyone and the blood bags hung next to each bed. They all were men and were abducted from different parts of the country.

A thorough investigation revealed the shocking threat to the country and an emerging smuggling gang. Men who were younger than 35 years and who live aloof were the targets of this drug and weapon smuggling gang. Blood from these men were collected in bags in frequent intervals. These bloods were then mixed with illegal drugs like cocaine and were crystallized. It was then made into fine crystals. No sniffing police pups or detectors could detect the drugs in the crystals, unless they are analyzed in the labs. So this made it easier for the smugglers to sneak away with their pots.

Younger the men, more the blood and if any one dies in this process, they are thrown into the incinerators. The men were given volume expanders and blood was taken frequently. None of the animals were used, as humans were easier to handle. The crystals were then delivered to the concerned recipients, who are drug dealers using an automated transporter. The recipient would then decrystallize the crystals, separate the blood using coagulant and extract the drug. Other than dealing with drugs, the gang was an expertise in manufacturing blood weapons, the weapons that were made from blood. Poison blades were in greater demand for they are stronger than steel blades and infuse poison.

Few days later, the newspapers read, ' Delivery boy - Nation's new hero'. Matt was at the limelight. He was the brain behind this operation. The other day, after Matt left Sean's apartment, he began to watch him closely. Matt concealed a tracker in the visiting card that he gave to Sean and the small device that he dropped in his jacket, helps cutting down interruption, so that Sean would be unaware of the tracker. Besides, Matt was the one who spotted automated transporter, 'the object'. These transporters were given the location of the recipient and using their GPS, they knew where to go. They were designed to ignite and burn themselves if they stay switched off and the contents were not removed within a specific time period.

All these findings were appreciated by the Governors and Matt was honoured for saving the nation. It was the proud and prestigious moment for him. But he had none to share the joy with. When he returned to his shattered studio, a biggest surprise awaited him. It was his dad!
