Little kid with a big heart

This post is again, about my son. I was so moved by his philanthropic heart and decided to write about it. Few days back, after my son came back from school, I told him to take a shower by himself, as I was busy with my baby girl. Few minutes later, I was disappointed to find my son, to let water run through the taps and just stare at it. The conversation went like this.

Me: Didn't I tell you to take shower? Why do you waste water like this?
My son: Simply.
Me: I have told you not to waste water like that. Water is precious. Do you know, there are many kids of your age, who don't have clean water to drink? They drink muddy water.
My son: Muddy water? That's yukk.
Me: Yes. But they don't have clean water to drink. They don't have food, clothes and medicine either.
My son: They don't have medicine?
Me: Yes, they don't. They are very poor. They don't have money for all that. We are blessed to have nice clothes, house, food, water and all luxuries. But, those poor kids don't have any.
My son: Then I will give all my money to them. (He said so instantly, without a thought)
Me: What?
My son: Ya. I will give them lots of money. They can buy food and medicine.
Me: You mean money from your money tin?
My son: Ya. I will get more money from daddy. I will help them.
Me: So, you don't want a robot from the money in your money tin. Is it?
My son: Ya.
Me: If you take daddy’s money, then you can't have a birthday party and no cake. Is it OK?
My son: Ya. I want to help them.
Me: Are you serious?
My son: Yes. I am serious.

I couldn't speak a word more. He is so little, but has a very big heart. We do donate money for various occasions, but never at the cost of our luxury. But when a little a boy can give up the money he saved for a toy and never bother cutting a cake for his birthday, but to help children in need, then I thought, this is something I need to learn from him.

I wrote a post on Humanity and compassion and whether they are taught to our children. Now I am rethinking that, they already have beautiful hearts. It's our duty not to confuse them by our materialistic needs and selfish greed. Let them be themselves. For sure, they will be better humans than us!!!
