Intimacy - Part 21

Aarthi and Rakesh experienced an unfathomable excitement, to meet each other after a long time. Now, they had all the time, to spend with each other. They spoke for hours, to compensate for all that, they missed in the recent years. Aarthi liked spending time at Rakesh’s place, in the evening. Weekends, off they would go to explore the city.

Aarthi felt secure and comfortable, to be with Rakesh. Besides, he prepared delicious food everyday for her.
“Move aside Rakesh. I am going to cook today”, said Aarthi, with full of energy.
“You keep saying this for past ten days”
“No, I am seriously serious today”
“You have been saying this too!”
“Listen! I am making fried rice for us, today”
“Fine. I will prepare it”
“Nooo…. You leave the kitchen and go and watch some creepy movies”
“The idea of you cooking is creepiest”
“Please Rakesh. Enough making fun of me”, said Aarthi childishly.
“Alright. You carry on”
“Are you not leaving yet?”
“Anyways you will call me after five minutes, to help you and I will end up cooking. So I would better wait here”
“Seriously I want to cook, today. Please! Please!! Please!!!”
“Hmm… OK. All the best!”, said Rakesh and left the kitchen.
Rakesh sat on the single bed, which stayed just opposite to the open kitchen. He played some movie in his laptop, but his mind was lingering around Aarthi, in the kitchen. He hardly looked at the laptop and kept watching her. Aarthi was eagerly working around. After fifteen minutes, Rakesh couldn't resist his urge, to peep into the kitchen.

“Hey Aarthi, do you need any help?”
“Who on earth discovered this silly vegetable, Rakesh?”
“What's wrong with a carrot?”
“It takes ages to chop this”
“So have you been chopping only one carrot all this time?”
“Ya!”
“But, you have been moving around, looking busy. I thought you are halfway through”
“Are you joking?”
“No, I am dead serious”
“I thought I would make rice in a pressure cooker, but then decided to make it in rice cooker and cut the vegetables first. Then, I thought of switching on the stove, to sauté onion a bit. Then I thought, I could cut carrot and saute it little longer, as it will take time to cook and thought of chopping other veggies in the meanwhile. But, I am already so tired of chopping carrot”, narrated Aarthi.
Rakesh couldn't help but laughed harder.
“I thought dinner will be ready soon and I was happy that I got a break. Back to pavilion, is it?”
“Hey, Sorry Rakesh. If you are hungry, I will go grab something from that Indian restaurant, as quick as a wink. Is that ok?”
“No worries Aarthi. I will make it”
“Sorry Rakesh”
“Don't be. Not a big deal”
Aarthi watched Rakesh chopping the vegetables finely and quickly. She always amazed his knife handling skills. Just like a chef!
“This chopping part, is the toughest bit of cooking”
“So, what will you do after you get married? Will you ask your husband to chop them for you”
“Definitely no. I will marry someone, who knows cooking and who will cook for me everyday”, said Aarthi instantly.
He looked at her and smiled. He couldn't take his eyes off her.
“Why are you staring at me like this?”
“Nothing. I am impressed by your ingenious idea”
She smiled in shame.
