Sandhya started talking more and more about Rakesh, to Aarthi. She showed greater interest in learning about his past, his favourites, his family and everything possible, about him. Aarthi shared everything with her, patiently and never bothered to mention about it to Rakesh. Then one fine day, Sandhya confessed her love for Rakesh, to Aarthi and pleaded her help.
“Sandhya, I am glad for you. But, how do you think I can help in this?”
“Aarthi, you are his best friend. You know him better than me. Can you talk to him about me and find out his mind?”
“Sorry Sandhya. I agree that, I am his best friend, but, I can't dare talk about this. It's totally between you and Rakesh and it's about your life. You guys have to talk to each other and decide. Sorry Sandhya!”, said Aarthi and left the place. She was emotional and did not even bother to wipe the tiny tear drops rolling down her cheek.
Aarthi stayed away from them both, having known Sandhya’s heart. She kept receiving calls from Rakesh, but ignored him saying that, she was already handful with work and was working in the evenings at home, to cope up with the pressure.
A week later, Sandhya insisted in meeting Aarthi, which Aarthi disliked. Still, she went to cafeteria, to meet Sandhya. Sandhya was standing near the huge French windows, overlooking the car park. She was looking dull and lost in thoughts.
“Hey Sandhya, are you OK?”, asked Aarthi, interrupting her.
“Hi Aarthi. I am OK”
“Is everything alright?”
“Not really, Aarthi”
“What happened?”
“I confessed my love to Rakesh. But, he never said anything about it. The other day after I spoke to you, I decided to open up my heart to him. That night, I had a chat with him and expressed my liking and love for him. But, he simply ignored me, said ‘Goodnight’ and left the chat. Next day, when I asked him whether he received my messages, he said that he did and wasn't interested in talking about it. I don't know what is going on in his mind. Aarthi, I have lost my peace.”
“I understand Sandhya. He never said anything about this to me, either. I don't have a clue on how to handle this.”
“Hmm”
“I don't want to annoy you. But, I am helpless.”
“No Sandhya. You are not. Let me see what I can do”, said Aarthi and convinced Sandhya.
