Rakesh couldn't meet Aarthi, for the next two days. She worked from home and denied to reply his mails and attend his calls. After losing the last bit of his patience, he went to her apartment, to meet her. Aarthi wasn't happy to see him and hesitantly invited him inside.
“What is all these about, Aarthi? Trying to avoid me and being smart?”
“Rakesh I don't intend to talk to you. It would be great if you could leave me alone”. Leave alone talking, she did not even look at him.
“Why should I?”
“Listen Rakesh, nothing that you wish, is going to happen. My parents will never agree to this. Besides, I have promised them that, I will marry the guy, whom they point to. So, better change your mind. Sandhya, told me everything and you have to be a stupid, to lose such a lovely girl”
“You don't tell me, what to do”, shouted Rakesh. After a brief moment, rakesh continued in a polite tone, “Fine, calm down and tell me when can we get married?!”
“Didn't you hear me?”, asked Aarthi. She was impatient and tears kept rolling down her cheeks.
“Of course, I did. But, I don't care about anything else. I can convince everyone. All I need, is your acceptance”
“Definitely, my parents will not agree to this”
“I can convince them. Why do you worry?”
“Better don't waste time and leave me alone”
“I know that, you like me. All I want, is a nod of approval, that you love me”
“I have been telling you that my parents won't agree to this, damn it. Why don't you just leave me and go?”, shouted Aarthi. Her face turned red and she was boiling.
Rakesh couldn't handle her stubbornness and left the place.
He kept reiterating the conversation, he had with Aarthi. He kept thinking about all that she said. He was ready to do anything to win her heart. He never thought, falling in love would be this painful. His most beloved companion, friend, mentor, guide, would fit perfectly, as his spouse too. He couldn't imagine a life without her and there was no future for him, beyond her.

After a long thought, he called his mom.
“Hi mom”
“Hey Rakesh. How are you dear?”, asked his mom. There was the usual tone of joy, in her voice.
“Mom, I want to get married”
His mom went silent.
