Two days later, on a late evening, Priya was upset over the quarrel, she just had with her mom. She tried explaining that, she was really not interested in getting married. But, her parents ignored her arguments and she had no other option than to yell at them. She locked herself up in her room. She was feeling bad and guilty. She did not have the courage to speak out her heart. She behaves like crazy, as she is completely helpless.
As she got herself immersed in her tub of upsetting thoughts, she heard calling bell ringing at her front door.
Priya's father attended the door.
“Hello Sir, I am Raj. This is my dad, Mr. Muthukumaran. We have got something important to talk to you. Please shall we come in?”, asked Raj pleadingly. He certainly looked pleasing and Priya's father greeted them.
“Thank you so much, Sir”, continued Raj, as he sat on the sofa. Priya heard the voice and she was in complete shock. She wished that it wasn't Raj. She sneakily opened the door and looked in the living room. Of course, it is Raj! She became paralysed in shock.
Raj noticed Priya's peeking, but he ignored her and continued talking.
“Sir, I am here to ask you the biggest favour, that you could ever do to anybody!!”
Priya's father looked puzzled.
“Sir, Priya and I are in love with each other and I would like to marry her, with all your permission and blessings”, said Raj politely. He looked calm, but only god knows how terrified he is, inside.
Priya's parents were taken aback. They were trying to comprehend, what Raj just said. They were clearly confused and utterly shocked.
Priya's father tried saying something, but he was clueless. After a brief pause, he continued,
“Are you serious? Probably you should have mistaken Priya. She is very ambitious and focused. There must be a misunderstanding, I suppose"
“Sir, we have better understanding about each other and that's why we are in love. She is a beauty, and by saying that, I don't mean her eyes or hair or anything of that sort. I mean her character, attitude, perception and thoughts. She is an absolute stunner. She is strong, self-less, motivating, understanding, gentle, humble and what not! She is an original complete package, that every man longs for. I have lost my mom when I was little and my dad had been everything to me. He did his best, but I had a secret longing for my mom, in the corner of my heart. And that longing vanished, after I met Priya. I felt a new life, a new world and a new me. She is the ray of hope and purpose of my life. Honestly, I can't think of anything beyond her”
Priya's parents didn't expect that either. They were feeling proud. But, still they couldn't compromise.
“All that is fine. But, I am not convinced. I am much worried now than ever before”
“I know you will be, Sir. I understand how disturbed you must be, to get to know all these, from an unknown stranger. But, please trust me. All these years, Priya would have made you happy, proud and content. She would have made lovely memories with you. She would have added meaning and colour to your lives. All I am asking you, is to lend my turn, so that I would experience and cherish all that, for the rest of my life. She is my divine blessing. I will assure you that I will treat her with dignity, respect and pride. You will always find her happy and prosperous. I promise!!”
“It is very easy to say all these”
“But, please trust me”
